FAQ & support

Codes & sign-up

My code does not work — what do I do?

Check that you typed all 6 characters correctly — the code never uses 0, O, 1 or I, so mix-ups are unlikely. If it still does not work, the event may have been deleted; ask the organiser for a fresh code.

Can I see the drive before I create an account?

Yes. Enter the code on the welcome screen and you will see the drive straight away. You only need an account when you want to sign up.

I was removed from an event — why?

That is the organiser's decision; contact them directly. DriveWaypoints does not interfere with participant lists.

On the day

I forgot to check in at a milestone!

No panic — the app never punishes you. It simply asks whether you want to check in at the missed milestone first. Do it while you are parked, and carry on.

I lost mobile signal along the way.

Everything about the drive (milestones, addresses, times) can be read offline if you opened the event the day before. Checking in needs a connection — it goes through once you have signal again.

How much battery does position sharing use?

Very little. The position is sent at most every 5 minutes, and you can turn sharing off completely in your profile. Good advice for the day: a phone mount and a charger in the car — then both the map and the battery last all day.

Does the app have to be open the whole time?

No. You only need it at the milestones (check-in) — and your co-driver can watch the shared map along the way. No feature requires the driver to touch the phone while driving.

GPS & privacy

Who can see where I am?

Only what the organiser chose for the event: either the organiser alone or the whole group. If you are "Anonymous on this drive", you appear as a neutral dot with no name or picture. Everything is deleted after 48 hours — read more.

Can I take part with no GPS at all?

Yes. Set the GPS setting to "Off" in your profile. Check-in still works — it is a tap on a button, not a GPS check.

For organisers

Can participants without a smartphone join?

Yes. Print the milestone overview with QR codes from the portal — then passengers who prefer paper can follow along, and the rest of the convoy uses the app.

What happens if I change a milestone after publishing?

Everyone signed up automatically gets a push message about the change (unless they have turned that type of notification off).
